Kim Daehyun is a South Korean filmmaker and producer whose diverse body of work spans over three decades, blending documentary realism with a deep interest in cultural, historical, and human narratives. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Korea University, completed graduate studies in Film and Theater at Dongguk University, and pursued an M.F.A. in 3D Movie Production at Yongin University.
As a director, Kim’s filmography includes acclaimed documentaries such as Korean Black Eyes (2024), A Breath of Earth (2024), First Defense (2023), and For the End of Time (2016), the latter following his music-centered Try to Remember (2015), which opened the 2015 Jechon International Music Film Festival. His works explore a wide range of subjects, from social history to pop culture, as seen in The Origin of K-Pop (2012). His earlier narrative features and shorts, including Bloody Innocent (2009) and the award-winning A Walk (2012), showcase his versatility across formats and genres.
As a producer, Kim has supported notable projects such as The Summer of Antarctic (2016) and Spider Forest (2003, dir. Ilgon Song). His films have screened internationally, earning recognition for their thoughtful storytelling, technical craft, and cultural insight.
