Armenia has three Nature Reserves, three National Parks and 22 Protected Areas. In the boundaries of those territories a unique Flora and Fauna is preserved for future generations. The photo exhibition aims to offer an opportunity to display this overwhelming abundance of landscapes, animals, plants and even cultural assets to the guests and participants of SunChild 3rd International Environmental Festival. The organizers of the festival invited the administrative bodies of Armenia's Nature Reserves, National Parks and Protected Areas to present themselves with photos as well as with informational material.
Additionally the exhibition presents photos and information about FPWC's Buffer Zone Project. In order to improve nature conservation in Armenia, FPWC has taken over since October 2010 the responsibility for 1400 hectares of pristine land in the vicinity of Khosrov Reserve. The project is supported by VivaCell-MTS, the British organization World Land Trust (WLT) and the IUCN National Committee of the Netherlands.
The aim of FPWC's Buffer Zone project is to set up a model for a functioning reserve where local community involvement, education, eco-tourism and nature conservation are closely interconnected. FPWC is the first organization in the entire region striving to set up a privately managed and monitored nature reserve.
The exhibition is shown in the Lobby of Ani Hall in the frame of the International Conference: The role of civil society and private actors in Wildlife Protection in the South Caucasus.
