Artemis is a poetic pamphlet about our supposed superiority over nature. The film reverses the prevailing narrative on the passivity and pitiability of nature and for once lets the animals do the talking. In this film we see how European bison, deer, cormorants, foxes, herons and seagulls still live their lives amongst us and around us in one of the most densely populated areas in the world: the industrial and urban agglomeration of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Artemis is a a film that reflects on our attitude towards nature.
