Short Environmental Films (Competition)

As climate change increasingly transfigures our world, two artists living on different continents (Nii Obodai from Ghana, and Nakajima Hiroyuki from Japan), explain how their creative work reflects what the notion of "LAND" means to them.

Martin Cooper is a British documentary filmmaker and editor who trained at the BBC and worked for over 30 years in British television, winning a Royal Television Society Award for Best Documentary Editor in 2002 and later serving as a judge for the Grierson Documentary Awards. He made his directorial debut with Traces of the Soul (2018), which won First Prize at the Alexandre Trauner Art/Film Festival, Best Contemporary Art Film at the Master of Art Film Festival, and Best First Feature at the Washington DC International Film Festival. His second feature, History, Mystery & Odyssey (2023), looks at six independent animators in Portland, Oregon, and has screened at festivals in Ottawa, France, Palm Springs, Australia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the UK.
