THE ZOO
A brand new three-part documentary series for ITV1 explores the world's oldest zoo, bringing a unique insight into the rich variety of daily life for the staff and animals at London Zoo։ For the first time in ten years cameras have been given access all areas at the zoo in Regent's Park, and its "country home" at Whipsnade, for a behind the scenes look at the life and death stories for The Zoo։ The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), which invented the word "zoo", has a collection of more than 21,000 wild animals at its two sites։ This series reveals what it means to be part of ZSL's dedicated team of 800 staff, including some of the world's best vets։

Nick Mattingly is a British television documentary maker who has made programmes for BBC 1, BBC 2, Channel 4 and ITV։ Nick has filmed in Manchester's Strangeways prison, on board fishing trawlers in the North Sea, on trains in the Himalayan foothills and is currently making a series featuring a lifeboat crew in Northumberland։ He has won several industry honours, including three Royal Television Society awards։
